Cubs open 2012 spring training with a 12-10 loss against the A's

The Cubs lost to the Oakland Athletics, 12-10 in their Cactus League opener today in front of a crowd of 10,366 at HoHoKam Park.  It sure sounded like perfect baseball weather (sunny, 82 degrees), from the way Len Kasper and Micky Gillespie described it on the cubs.com podcast.

The Cubs came back to take the lead from a 9-3 deficit in the 6th when Adrian Cardenas hit a stand-up triple that scored Jackson, Aducci, and Sappelt.  But the A's took back the lead in the 8th, making it 10-9.  Dave Sappelt's base running paid off in the 8th when he scored on a wild throw to tie the game at 10.  But the A's managed to score 2 more runs and take the win.  Here are some photos from today's game:

Ryan Dempster is scheduled to start for Game 2 tomorrow at 2:05pm against the A's.  The game will be broadcasted on WGN-Radio.
